The stories behind the pictures

Picture of The stories behind the pictures

Since launching the site earlier this year we've had simply thousands of images uploaded to the gallery. It's great fun to trawl though them all to find our favourite mood-lifting images.

The best ones have featured in our Magic Good Mood Films - like 'Pebbles', shown in our Spring 2008 campaign. Read the stories behind this and some of the other pictures that feature in our campaigns.

Silhouettes

What could be more mood-lifting than a bracing walk by the seaside - far away from all those grumpy faces on the Tube! We loved this picture of people holding hands, and asked Rhiannon Taylor to tell us more:

'Whenever we go to visit family in Broadstairs, Kent, we all always end up going for a walk along the beach.

This is a picture of my cousins and me taken a few days after Christmas, having fun on the sand dunes despite the cold weather! Here's to many more seaside walks!'

Mini guard

Some of our favourite Good Mood Film pictures have been taken on impulse when out and about round town, like this one from designer Karen Crean.

She tells us about the day she took the photo:

'This imaginative yet cheeky 'perspective' image makes me smile.

It was taken on a day out at the Tower Of London, looking for inspiring ideas to benefit customers in the restaurant industry.'

Trampoline

A picture tells a thousand words, and we thought this one really captures the joy of friendship.

It's one of those days that Francesca Miller will always look back on with a smile on her face.

'They are my best friends', she tell us.

'We were just having a sleepover and we decided to have some fun. I like this picture because every time I look at it I remember the great time we had together.'

Pebbles

Laura Gordon tells us that 'Pebbles' sums up the perfect day.

'The picture was taken on a hazy London summer day - my favourite kind of day!

It always puts a smile on my face because I remember the day when it was taken...

...my best friend had been wanting to take me to Temple Church for ages, we sat in the courtyard in the sun and then strolled down by the river eating Ribena ice lollies.'

Rufus

Emily Hart, from Essex, was driving to work on a typically drizzly day when she heard about the Magic Good Mood Film.

She was intrigued by what made other people happy, so she logged on. After seeing a whole lot of pets on the site, she thought she'd add her dog Rufus.

She said, 'He was sound asleep when I took the photo and I managed to capture a rare close-up. I really like black and white photography because all our wedding photos are in black and white. It puts me in a good mood because my dog is very special to me and it reminds me of the day I got married!'

Doctor Who

Karen Walker uploaded this photo of her son Max because it makes her laugh every time she sees it.

She said: 'Max is completely obsessed with Doctor Who and wears this suit everyday - even to playschool. He makes everyone laugh - it's not often you see a four-year-old walking round ASDA dressed in a suit! Old ladies stop me in the street to tell me how cute he is. I just loved the photo and I am so proud of him. Now thousands of people will be able to see how cute he is!'

We will be putting another film together from your shots later on this year, so keep all your lovely images coming. Tell us why they make you smile and you may find we use them in the next film.
